Eli Shalan is an artist and educator living in Providence, RI. His work is primarily rooted in graffiti, but takes many forms in an effort to advance the perception and thought process of what graffiti is. His studio practice is an exploration of misinterpreted aesthetics: decay, rust and urban infrastructure. His mural work most often takes the form of traditional colorful graffiti lettering. Eli currently works as the Program Coordinator at NUA Knights, an expansion program of New Urban Arts at Central High School. There he has developed a strong connection to the students of CHS and working with young people.
