Derek has more than 20 years of experience in technical roles specific to stormwater management including BMP monitoring, research and development, and regulatory affairs. He is past president of the Stormwater Equipment Manufacturers Association (SWEMA) and is active on numerous stormwater stakeholder committees and initiatives throughout the country. Mr. Berg holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Policy as well as an MBA from the University of Southern Maine.

Hernan has 15 years of civil/site engineering experience specializing in directing multidisciplinary project teams of engineers, scientists, and regulatory specialists for large-scale public works, roadway, storm drain, and utility infrastructure projects. His project experience includes seeing projects from the conceptual planning phase through permitting, design, and construction; including Low Impact Design (LID), Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) design, storm drainage design, stormwater management, and utility infrastructure assessment and design. Hernan graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.

Chris has worked as an Environmental Engineer in the RIDEM Stormwater Construction Permitting program since 2020. He graduated from UMass Dartmouth with a BS in Civil & Environmental Engineering. In addition to reviewing stormwater designs for construction projects, he is also the primary contact for the RIDEM Technical Review Committee which is responsible for approving proprietary stormwater treatment devices in Rhode Island.
